The Devincenti-Lagomarsino team would like to remind the building owners of San Francisco to check if your properties are on the Preliminary Soft Story List, which can be found below. The City of San Francisco has signed into law a program for the mandatory retrofit for all wood frame buildings permitted for construction prior to January 1, 1978 with two or more stories over a soft or weak story that contain five or more dwelling units.

Security Deposit Interest Rate Announced:

The rate of interest owed on security deposits for the period March 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019 is 1.2%. The new rate is published annually by the Rent Board for the one-year period beginning March 1st.


Allowable Rental Increase for 2018:

Effective March 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019, the allowable annual increase amount is 1.6%. In accordance with Rules and Regulations Section 1.12, this amount is based on 60% of the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for All Urban Consumers in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose region for the 12-month period ending October 31, which was 2.7% as posted in November 2017 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
